Terms of Service

last updated 7 september 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and TagZ. They cover the free tracking scanner, paid tracking monitoring, what we promise about alerts, and — just as importantly — what we do not promise.

We have tried to write them the way we write our alerts: short sentences, plain English, no surprises buried in the middle.

01

What TagZ is

TagZ monitors a website’s marketing tracking. We load your site in a real browser, verify whether your tracking tags actually fire, and email you, in plain English, when a tag that was working goes silent. Monitoring covers ten platforms: Google Analytics (GA4), Google Tag Manager, Google Ads, the Meta Pixel, the TikTok Pixel, the LinkedIn Insight Tag, Microsoft Advertising (UET), the Pinterest Tag, the Snapchat Pixel and the Reddit Pixel. The free scanner additionally detects other tools, which are reported and not monitored.

There are two parts to the service:

  • The free scanner. A one-off, read-only scan of a public website that reports each tracker’s state. No account, no payment.
  • Monitoring (paid). Scheduled scans of the website — or websites — your plan covers, with an email alert when a confirmed problem appears and a recovery notice when it clears.

The service is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY], of [ADDRESS] (“TagZ”, “we”, “us”). By using the scanner or subscribing, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

02

Who can use it

You must be at least 18 years old. TagZ is a business tool and is not intended for children.

You may only submit a website that you own or control, or one you are authorised by its owner to have checked and monitored. This is a real obligation, not a formality. Every time you enter a web address — in the free scanner or when setting up monitoring — you are confirming that you have that authority.

If your authority to have a website monitored ends, tell us or remove the website from monitoring. If we have reason to believe a website was submitted without authority, we may stop checking it and suspend the account.

If you use TagZ on behalf of a company, you confirm you can accept these terms for that company.

03

The free scanner

It only reads

We open the address you give us in a real headless browser running on our own infrastructure, and let your page run the way a visitor’s browser would. We watch the network while it does. The scanner never submits a form, never signs in, never sends data to your website, and never changes anything — on your site or in your accounts. It needs no login, no API key and no OAuth connection.

When one of your tags tries to send its measurement request, we answer that request ourselves with an empty 204 instead of passing it on. The tag believes it went through — which is the proof we were looking for — and nothing we do lands in your analytics or ad accounts.

It is limited on purpose

Scans are rate-limited per connection, per website, and across the service as a whole. Recent results are served from a short-lived cache. You may be shown a human-verification step, which is provided by Cloudflare. Only public websites reachable over the normal web can be scanned; addresses on private or internal networks are refused. We may refuse, delay, throttle, cache or block any scan at any time, and may change or withdraw the free scanner entirely.

What a scan result is worth

A scan is a single snapshot of one page, taken from one place at one moment. Some results legitimately come back as “unable to verify” — for example when a consent banner holds tracking back and offers no accept control we can identify with certainty, or when a website’s bot protection answers us instead of the page. Where we can identify the banner’s accept control, the scanner and the monitoring service press it — in a temporary browser that keeps nothing — in order to observe the tags that wait for consent. By asking us to scan or monitor a website you confirm you are content for us to do so. Findings about when tags fire relative to a consent choice are technical observations and are not legal advice. That is an honest unknown, not a finding about your website. The free scanner comes with no guarantee of accuracy, completeness or availability.

04

Acceptable use

You must not use TagZ to:

  • scan or monitor a website you do not own, control, or have permission to test — this is the rule we care about most;
  • gather information about someone else’s website, servers or infrastructure — reconnaissance, probing or mapping of any kind;
  • load-test, stress-test or otherwise generate traffic against any website through our infrastructure;
  • try to make our systems connect to private, internal, or non-web addresses, or to work around our safety and rate-limit controls;
  • automate, scrape, resell or rebrand the scanner or its results;
  • break the law, infringe anyone’s rights, or interfere with anyone’s systems.

We enforce this. We may block, throttle, suspend or terminate access — with or without notice — when we believe these rules are being broken, and we keep operational records of scan requests so we can investigate abuse (see our Privacy Policy).

05

Subscriptions and billing

What a subscription buys

A subscription buys monitored-website slots, not a specific web address forever. One slot monitors one website at a time, and you can change which website occupies a slot. The number of slots is what you are paying for; every plan runs the same checks.

Price

The Solo plan is $9.95 per month, or $95.88 per year — the annual price works out to $7.99 per month. Multi-site plans’ prices and website allowances are shown on our pricing page and at checkout before you pay. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any sales tax or VAT, which is added at checkout where it applies.

Who takes your payment

Payments are handled by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the Merchant of Record: it takes the payment, handles sales tax and VAT, and issues the receipt. Your card details are entered on Lemon Squeezy’s checkout, on their own domain, and never reach TagZ’s servers.

Renewal and cancellation

Subscriptions renew automatically — monthly or annually — until you cancel. You can cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, and monitoring runs until then. If a payment fails, we keep monitoring during the retry period rather than dropping your coverage over a card that needs updating.

Refunds

We do not give partial refunds for unused time after a renewal — cancelling stops the next charge. In good faith, we will refund a first payment in full if you ask within [REFUND WINDOW] of it being taken, and we will always refund a payment we clearly should not have taken. Refunds are processed by Lemon Squeezy, and their own terms also allow them, as Merchant of Record, to refund any purchase within 60 days. Your consumer-law rights are unaffected.

Price changes

We may change prices. If we do, we will tell you by email at least 30 days before the change applies to your renewal, so you can cancel first.

06

What we promise, and what we do not

This is the most important section in this document. Please read it.

What we promise

  • We verify real firing, in a real browser. A tracker counts as working only when we observe its data actually leaving the page — not merely because its script is present.
  • We verify before we alert. A single failed check never becomes an email. An alert requires a tracker we previously observed working to fail and then fail again on a re-check.
  • Ambiguity is never treated as failure. Consent banners we cannot answer, bot protection, and setups we cannot see through from outside (such as server-side tagging) are reported as “unable to verify” — not “broken”.
  • Alerts concern silence, not content. An alert means a monitored tracker stopped transmitting or was removed. Problems with what a tracker sends — missing values, duplicated events, consent timing — are reported by the scan and do not raise alerts.
  • Our scans stay out of your data. We observe tracker requests without delivering them, so monitoring does not add traffic or events to your analytics or ad accounts.
  • Plain English. Alerts say which tag, since when, and what to do next — and you get a recovery notice when it clears.

What we do not promise

  • We do not guarantee that we will detect every tracking problem, or detect any problem within a particular time. We observe your pages from the public internet, from one location, on a schedule; some failures are invisible from outside, and tracking that only fires after a visitor interacts with the page cannot be observed by a passive scan.
  • We do not verify Google Ads conversions. We verify that the Google Ads tag loads and transmits its page signal. Conversion events fire on real customer conversions and cannot be fully verified by a passive scan.
  • We do not guarantee that your data is accurate or complete. A tag can fire and still be misconfigured; that is between you and your analytics setup. TagZ tells you when firing stops — it is not an audit of your measurement.
  • We cannot see inside your Google or Meta accounts, your server, or your tag configurations — and we never ask for access to them.
  • We cannot fix your tracking. We tell you what we observed and suggest the next step — often forwarding our email to whoever manages your website or your ads.
  • We do not commit to a specific uptime for TagZ itself, and we do not pay compensation for missed or late alerts, including any advertising spend during a tracking outage (see sections 9 and 10).

07

Service changes and availability

We will keep improving TagZ, which means features change, get added, and sometimes get removed. If we make a change that materially reduces what a paid subscription does, we will tell you by email with reasonable notice so you can cancel.

Maintenance, outages and interruptions happen — to us as much as to anyone. We may pause the free scanner entirely at any time. We do not promise that TagZ will be uninterrupted or error-free.

08

Ending this agreement

You can cancel at any time, for any reason. Monitoring continues to the end of the period you have paid for, then stops.

We may suspend or end your access if you break the acceptable-use rules, if payment fails and is not recovered, or if we are required to by law. For serious abuse we may act immediately; otherwise we will give you notice and, where practical, a chance to put things right. If we end a paid subscription without you having broken these terms, we will refund the unused part of the period you paid for.

When monitoring ends, alerts stop. What happens to your data afterwards is set out in our Privacy Policy.

09

Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE, INCLUDING THE FREE SCANNER, IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW WE DISCLAIM THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTY THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR WILL DETECT EVERY PROBLEM WITH YOUR WEBSITE’S TRACKING.

Some countries do not allow these exclusions. If yours does not, this section applies to you only as far as the law allows, and your statutory consumer rights are not affected.

10

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost revenue, lost business, lost goodwill, lost data, or wasted advertising spend — including losses arising from a tracking problem we did not detect, detected late, or reported inaccurately.

Our total liability to you, for all claims taken together, is limited to the fees you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Where you have paid us nothing — for example when using the free scanner — our liability is limited to the maximum extent the law allows.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

11

Indemnity

You agree to cover our reasonable losses, damages and legal costs arising from a claim brought against us because of:

  • a website you submitted to us without the authority to do so,
  • your breach of the acceptable-use rules in section 4, or
  • your unlawful use of the service.

We will tell you promptly about any such claim and will not settle it without talking to you first.

12

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION], and the courts of [JURISDICTION] have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.

If you are a consumer, this does not remove the protection of mandatory consumer laws in the country where you live, and it does not stop you bringing a claim in your local courts where the law gives you that right.

13

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service changes. The “Last updated” date at the top always reflects the current version. If a change materially affects a paid subscription, we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect at your next renewal. If you keep using TagZ after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms.

14

Contact
